Wading In

Because the River of Stones project was just not enough creative activity for this month, I decided (on the spur of the moment yesterday, the last day to sign up) to take a class on self portraits. Partly as a way to exercise my new camera, and partly because I usually *hate* pictures of myself, and I'd kinda like to get over it already.

And I'll be darned if I didn't get a picture I don't hate, right on day one.

  1. Awesome! Does this mean a new self-portrait every day? I could get used to that, easy. This post, Ames, reminds me of Holly & Val's project, word + picture -- http://wordpluspicture.blogspot.com/2010/12/dark_20.html -- and they're back on it! Lots of new posts to scroll through. If these aren't stones, I don't know what stones are. xox

  3. that is a gorgeous self-portrait! Gorgeous! What a great class! Photography used to be my art of choice (black and white, darkroom based), and I've always loved looking at self-portraits, and actually, making them. There's so much you can say with a self-portrait, and they don't even have to include a face. Have so much fun!

  4. Agree - what a stunner on day 1. Imagine what you might produce by the end! I especially love the impish little grin.

  5. Hey, thanks everyone! The class continues to be super fun. Lis, I'm not sure I have the constitution to go posting pictures of myself every day. ;-) But maybe a little round-up of favorites now and then.
